How to get to Zermatt

Detailed instructions describing how to get to Zermatt may be found by accessing the Zermatt tourism web page at http://www.zermatt.ch/index.e.html

Most of you will arrive in Zermatt by train. Here are some aids:

1. To get to Zermatt you must go through Visp, Switzerland, unless you drive by car (Zermatt does not allow automobiles). Many Express or Intercity trains you take from one of the major airports in Europe go through Brig Switzerland.

2. In Visp, you will have to change to the Cog Railway Matterhorn-Gottard-Bahn with trains between Brig-Visp and Zermatt. The one way trip is approximately one hour.

3. Train schedules between major airports (for example: In Switzerland: Zurich, Basel (Bale) or Geneva (Genève) or in Germany: Frankfurt, in France: Paris, In Belgium: Brussels) and Brig may be investigated at the following websites:

If you arrive by car, you can drive to Taesch and park there before taking a taxi shuttle to Zermatt.
